The LOOSE BOX
An eclectic, interesting, converted stable block, now reimagined as a stylish retreat for four guests
The LOOSE BOX
The Loose Box is the latest addition to our collection of converted buildings on the Barton Court Estate. What was once the home of two thoroughbreds - Tarquin and Rocket - has been carefully converted into a characterful two-bedroom cottage, and their names are still on the walls. It is perfect for a family or group of friends who want somewhere genuinely original to stay in.
It has an open plan sitting/kitchen/dining room, 2 double bedrooms, a separate shower room and an ensuite shower room for the main bedroom. If you need more space, there is the option of taking the Hayloft above.
It contains all the original features of the livery and tack room that it was back in the 18th century, complete with the names of the horses above the stalls.
There is also a little snug, where you can work (if necessary) or just have some quiet time alone.
Sit outside in your patio garden and enjoy a coffee while you gaze at the Malvern Hills.
The Sitting Room
The sitting room in the Loose Box has been left as untouched as possible in homage to its past. The original wood panelling still lines the walls; the manger is still in place and vintage fire extinguishers - repurposed as wall lights - cast a warm glow in the cosy space.
There is plenty of generous seating for four or more and a dining table with chairs for leisurely meals.
Leather sofas, skin rugs and shaggy throws complete the ‘ranch’ vibe of this characterful building.
The Kitchen
A generous and well equipped galley kitchen leads from the sitting area. It contains all the kit and caboodle to make food preparation easy if you want to cook for yourself. There is an induction hob, an electric oven, a fridge/freezer, and air fryer and a full sized dishwasher to lighten the chores.
Industrial in feel it is dominated by original advertising artwork.
Rocket
At the other end of the building is the second bedroom.
Another king, it is airy and comfortable with a walk in wardrobe and an ensuite shower room. Glazed doors lead to the outside.
Tarquin
Tarquin was the most valuable horse in the Barton Court stable and had his own very luxurious equine quarters.
This is now a stylish bedroom for two and can be a king or unzipped to form two singles.
DOGS
The wooden floors through the Loose Box make it ideal for your four legged friends to join you.
At the rear of the building is the Dovecote Lawn where they can have a scamper on the grass.
