About Us
Who Are We?
We are a husband and wife team - James Meyer and Linda Camp - who have made a career out of our love of doing up neglected houses in the countryside.
What’s Our Story?
Originally from London - where James was an advertising photographer and I had a business in corporate relocation - we moved out to the Cotswolds to allow our son to grow up with freedom and fresh air.
We bought a small cottage, outgrew it but could not bear to sell and began renting it as a holiday home for others to enjoy the environment and surroundings that we had created. It snowballed from there. We ended up specialising in large group stays and wanted to develop that further. The Cotswolds had become a bit too urban for our taste so we looked further afield and we discovered Herefordshire by accident. And fell in love with its beauty and the restorative tranquility of its countryside.
Barton Court
The restoration of Barton Court has been driven by the passion that we felt when we first viewed it. We could see straight away its potential: the gracious architecture, the wonderful eclectic mix of buildings, the stunning setting and the magnificent views. Coupled with a station and shops in the village, it was perfect. Neglected and dilapidated by people who, having lived there for 130 years, no longer valued its beauty, it had been left to moulder. To us, it was a diamond twinkling in the rough.
Our mission has been to restore this spectacular, quintessentially English estate and pay homage to its incredible heritage.
