The HAYLOFT
A first-floor flat for two, once the old estate manager's quarters. Steep stone steps to reach it - worth every one.
The SPACE
Up the stone staircase that once carried the estate manager to his desk each morning, the Hayloft sits high enough to look out over the lawns of Barton Court to the Malvern Hills beyond.
On a clear day - and there are many - you can see for miles.
This is a place for two people and a dog who want to take life easy for a while.
It is compact and cosy with all the amenities to make a step outside of normal, everyday life stress-free and enjoyable in a place that remains full of history and character.
We find that guests either use it as a base to go out a lot - cycling, walking etc - or hunker down and enjoy its separation from the world to think and write.
The Sitting Room
The front door opens straight into a room that does several things at once: sitting room, kitchen, dining room, and the kind of place where you feel immediately relaxed.
Original beams are overhead. The ceilings are high. The windows look out over the grounds of Barton Court to the Malvern Hills beyond.
Inside it's warm and full of character - exposed beams, a bold sweep of colour, a raw timber beam over the bed - a first-floor bolthole for two who want quiet, a long view and somewhere genuinely their own.
There's a sofa, an armchair, a dining table for two, a bookcase, and an internet TV for slow evenings in. Superfast WiFi if you need it.
The Kitchen
Built into the sitting room rather than hidden away - a properly equipped kitchen with a combi oven, induction hob, air fryer, dishwasher and fridge.
Everything you need for a long weekend without a plan.
The Bedroom
A snug double bedroom off the sitting room, with a built-in wardrobe, a dressing table. Quiet and peaceful. Perfect for a getaway.
The ensuite bathroom has a bath with a Grohe shower over, basin and loo — and more storage than you'd expect.
Stargazing
No light pollution. Just the sky.
Barton Court sits in some of the darkest countryside in the Midlands.
On a clear night, the sky here is big, dark and crowded with constellations twinkling brightly, easily visible. Sometimes you can even see the Aurora Borealis. No need to go to Norway!
DOGs
One well-behaved dog very welcome.
Walk straight out of the door and onto the paths that lead up into the Malvern Hills - no car needed - just the hills from the moment you arrive.
The VIEW
The window at the top of the stairs looks straight out past The Clock Tower to the Malvern Hills.
Down below the stairs is a sheltered area with a table and chairs for two where you can enjoy the view of the hills or just sit under the canopy of stars when it gets dark.
