RETREATS AND WORKSHOPS

If you lead retreats, run residential courses, teach classes or bring people together for something you have built yourself, Barton Court offers what most venues cannot: a setting that contributes to the work rather than simply housing it.

The estate is available on an exclusive-use basis. When your group is here, the house, barns and grounds are entirely yours.

The spaces

Rooms are agreed in advance, according to the size of the group and the shape of the day. Depending on the booking, this can include exclusive use of the relevant parts of the estate.

Catering is provided on site and built around your timetable rather than a fixed service window.

The Saw Mill is brick, old beams and glass - 88 square metres, seating 45 to 55 for dining or 70 to 80 theatre-style. It suits exercise classes, smaller groups, one-to-one sessions and quieter parallel activity, and it works as breakout space alongside the larger barn.

The Dutch Barn connects to it: a white-painted building of 128 square metres with high ceilings and natural light, seating up to 90 for dinner, 100 to 120 theatre-style or 50 to 60 classroom-style. It has held art galleries and plays as readily as movement classes and group sessions.

Underfloor heating runs throughout the barn complex, with superfast WiFi. Deep countryside, but properly connected.

The Manor House. The drawing room, dining room and library carry an ease and comfort that sets a different tone from a hotel conference suite.

Outside, there is a large sunny terrace with a stretch tent, and the Dovecote Lawn beyond it, which has held charity fairs and ice baths. Seven acres of enclosed grounds are yours to use freely between sessions, and the Malvern Hills begin where the estate ends.

Parking is plentiful and free, with two EV charging points.

Accommodation

Accommodation for up to 40 guests sits across the Manor House and the estate cottages — the Coach House, the Loose Box, the Clock Tower and the Hayloft.

The Manor House sleeps 26 in eleven bedrooms, with 26 individual beds, so nobody has to share. Three bedrooms are on the ground floor, one with an accessible ensuite shower room.

Bedrooms are individually designed rather than standardised. Guests sleep well here, which matters on a multi-day programme.

Because the accommodation and the working spaces are on one site, the retreat does not stop when the session ends. Evening conversation, shared meals and informal connection are part of what the estate makes possible.

CaterinG

Catering is led by award-winning chef Felice Tocchini. Meals are nutritious, generous and built around the group — an early breakfast before a morning practice, a working lunch between sessions, a relaxed dinner at the end of a full day.

Dietary requirements are handled as standard.

Exclusivity

No shared bookings. No other guests on site. No interruption from hotel staff or an overlapping event in the next room.

That level of privacy changes the atmosphere of a retreat in ways a shared venue cannot reach.

How practitioners use the estate

Weekend retreat.

Friday evening to Sunday afternoon. A contained format that suits established practitioner communities, skill-based courses and introductory residential programmes.

Week retreat.

Monday to Friday, or Sunday to Friday. For intensive programmes where depth and continuity matter.

Ongoing residency.

Some practitioners use the estate regularly, returning with their community across several seasons. We are glad to discuss longer-term arrangements where the work is a natural fit.

Day hire.

Non-residential workshops, classes and events using the barns without overnight accommodation - a supper club you are testing, a creative workshop, a wellness session, a masterclass, or bringing people together around something you care about.

This is not hiring a hall. It is a setting with warmth, light and character, adaptable enough for the idea to take its own shape. The barns can be set up simply or styled properly, depending on what you are making, and we can set up a working bar by arrangement.

what it costs

Residential retreats start at £3,500 per night for exclusive use of the Manor House and both barns, sleeping up to 26, reducing to £3,000 per night on stays of three nights or more. The estate cottages can be added, taking the group to 40.

Day hire of the barns starts at £350 for one barn or £600 for both.

All rates exclude VAT.

Availability for day hire is selective, since the barns carry regular weekly classes in term time.
