The Bedrooms

The Manor House benefits from 11 bedrooms. Each is individual in character, stylishly decorated and thoughtfully designed for the maximum guest comfort. We have named each one after a creative figure connected to the local landscape.

The rooms all benefit from the tall windows and high ceilings that are the hallmarks of period architecture, enhanced with lovely furnishings and beautiful collectibles. Far-reaching views from every window create a sense of retreat at the end of the day.

Nine of the bedrooms have ensuite bathrooms. The remaining to have dedicated shower rooms, close by and only used by the occupants of the given bedroom.

Three cloakrooms dotted around the house add to privacy and convenience.

This room is named after Tolkien. He took the majesty of the Malvern Hills as his inspiration for the Shire in the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings. This is a very special place to stay.

A large and airy with two floor to ceiling windows that give views to the hills in one direction and southward over fields in the other, it is furnished with antiques and comfy seating.

The room offers you plenty of space, not just to sleep, but to unwind after a busy day. You can relax and read in one of the two armchairs by the the fireplace or, sit at the table to write or catch up on work.

When you are ready, sink into a 6’ superking bed in this stunning master bedroom.

The ensuite boasts a massive 6’ wide double shower and a lit bateau bath while the loo and second basin are in their own discrete private cloakroom.

Tolkien

From this bedroom, you look out onto the same fields that W.H. Auden walked when he composed his wonderful poetry.

An antique elm Windsor chair is placed in the floor to ceiling window to give you the best possible view of what is a quintessentially English landscape: serene and bucolic.

Decorated with vintage fabrics and antique furniture - including a hand painted Slavic marriage chest - it has a 6’ superking bed and comfortable seating to sink into at the end of a pleasurable day.

The ensuite bathroom is reached by a short flight of internal stairs. There, as well as the toilet and basin, you find a slipper bath to soak in as well as a large walk in shower.

Auden

Holst

Imagine waking up to the sound of birdsong in a room inspired by the lyrical music of Gustav Holst, after a good night’s sleep in a superking [6’] bed.

Wake up here and you will be refreshed and ready for anything the day brings.

High ceilings, chandeliers, shutters at the window all speak of the rooms 18th century origins that have been enlivened by some eclectic touches.

Original early 20th century furniture and artwork provide the atmosphere in a room big enough for 3 people where the day bed/sofa doubles as a full sized single bed.

A large walk in shower and a deep bath await in the ensuite which is decorated with old music sheets.

Elgar

Elgar is proof positive that black can be romantic. Softened by beige silk blinds and crisp white linen on the contemporary four poster, this dramatic bedroom is vast but welcoming.

2 day beds sit opposite each other in front of the fireplace to give plenty of seating [or additional sleeping] while an elegant white bath sits in the west facing bay window.

Soak in luxury as the sun sets.

In the adjoining ensuite, a generous walk in shower and 2 wash hand basins complete the comfort.

Browning

You look out of the windows of this spacious ground floor bedroom towards Hope End where Elizabeth Barrett Browning spent a great deal of her time. She was a trailblazing, interesting woman who led a rich and full life.

This bedroom is designed to offer comfort, ease and accessibility on the ground floor of the house, making the experience of staying at Barton Court inclusive for those with limited mobility.

There are twin beds which, with a wheelchair friendly shower room. complete the suite.
